Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira on Monday said that despite reservations, the PPP government had always respected the Supreme Court’s decisions. Talking to reporters outside the Supreme Court, he said the government had accepted every decision of the Supreme Court and “we are thankful to the apex court for the additional time”. He said there was disagreement on the interpretation of Para 178 regarding NRO case.
“Still we are present to resolve the issue in court,” he added. Kaira said politics was all about consensus and the government would resolve the issue with mutual understanding. He said,” We do not want any kind of confrontation with the judiciary, rather we were the ones who played an important role for the restoration of the deposed judges.” To a question, he said general elections would be held on time as parliament would complete its legal tenure.
