Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan Secretary General Liaqat Baloch has expressed his deep concern over problems being faced by minorities in the country during a visit to Saint Joseph Church in Lahore Cantonment on Monday.
Baloch met Father Nadeem Francis, Father John Than Francis and other Christian leaders on his visit and demanded from the government to ensure the protection of lives and property of minorities in accordance with the law and constitution of the country.
During the meeting, the leaders exchanged views on the minority problems in Pakistan including the migration of Hindu families from Sindh, the Rimsha Mashih case and the current political situation in the country.
Baloch said that the root cause of the problems being faced by the minorities and the majority alike were due to the corruption of the rulers.
“As a matter of fact, the rulers are corrupt law breakers and the law enforcement agencies themselves are breaking laws, that is why the minorities and the majority face similar problems,” he added.
He held President Asif Ali Zardari and Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah responsible for the troubles being faced by the Hindu community in Sindh.
He said that all religious parties would consider all the facts related to the arrest of Rimsha Masih in Islamabad on the allegation of burning pages of the Holy Quran.
