‘Door to military adventurism shut forever’

Appreciating the role of lawyers’ community in the movement for the reinstatement of judges, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Monday said sacrifices by lawyers, particularly youngsters who stood for the judiciary, had ensured that the door of military adventurism was closed once and for all. He was talking to former Attorney General for the US and a civil and human rights lawyer William Ramsey Clark who called on the chief justice on Monday. The CJ recalled his visit to the US in 2008 and the support Clark had provided for the cause of rule of law and independence of judiciary in Pakistan.
