Arjun walks out, Sanjay as Sher Khan in ‘Zanjeer’ remake

When director Apoorva Lakhia announced his plans of re-making ‘Zanjeer’ with a stellar cast earlier this year, all eyes were set on him and the way he would re-craft the film. With Ram Charan Teja and Priyanka Chopra essaying the roles of Vijay Srivastav and Mala (Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan in the original) respectively, and Arjun Rampal performing that of Sher Khan (Pran in the original), the recipe for another blockbuster might just have been concocted. But apparently, beginning well wasn’t merely enough for the project.
Arjun Rampal has been quoted, in conversation with a daily: “I don`t know if I`m part of the Zanjeer remake. During the initial meetings, I liked the script, but I haven`t seen Apoorva since. I will be meeting him soon.”
On being asked whether that means he wouldn’t act in the film, the acclaimed actor went on to add, “No. The role sounds exciting. Ninety-nine per cent, I am doing the film, but we are going back and forth on a few matters. This month, things should clear up. I`ve committed to Apoorva on doing it (the film).”
However, a tweet had something else to say. The tweet read, “Arjun Rampal has apparently walked out of the remake of ‘Zanjeer’, where he was playing Pran’s role.”
However, according to a daily, ace actor Sanjay Dutt has been roped in for essaying the iconic role of Sher Khan. After the actor was seen in the blood-curdling performance of Kancha Cheena in ‘Agneepath’, we are sure waiting to watch him play Sher Khan!
