Altogether 27 disciplines will be contested during the 32nd edition of the National Games to be held here form October 16-22 at different centres.
“Men will be competing in all the 27 disciplines while women will be participating in 17 events”, said a spokesman of Pakistan Olympic Association here on Monday.
He said the events to be contested are athletics, baseball, bodybuilding, boxing, football, gymnastics, handball, hockey, ju-jitsu, kabaddi, karate, netball, shooting, rowing, rugby, sailing, softball, squash, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, tug of war, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling and wushu.
The women competitions are, athletics, gymnastic ,handball, hockey, ju-jistu, karate, netball, karate, shooting, swimming, squash, table tennis, taekwondo, and tennis, volleyball and wushu.
He said Punjab Olympic Association being the hosts of games is eligible to participate in maximum number of sports/discipline while 300 athletes each from KPK, Sindh, Balochistan and 100 each from Islamabad and FATA will take part in the country’s biggest sports event
“The participating units of the Games are Provincial Olympic Association of Punjab, KPK, Sind, Baluchistan as well as Islamabad Olympic Association and FATA alongwith the Services/Departmental Organizations of the Pak Army, Pak Navy, Pak Air Force, Pak WAPDA, Railways, Police and HEC,” he added.
