A Pakistani delegation comprising parliamentarians that returned home via Wagah border on Sunday after a five-day visit to India were of the view that both sides wanted peace.
According to Geo News, Senator Jehangir Badar underscored the need for working together for establishing peace in South Asia, elimination of poverty, and economic development in both countries. He said the bilateral agreement envisaging relaxing the conditions for visa regime should be signed soon.
The senator also said the exchange of senior citizens, students and educationists would be made easy. Awami National Party (ANP) Senator Haji Adeel said Pakistan was not the epicenter of terrorism “rather it is a victim of this scourge”. PML-N MNA Khurram Dastagir asserted that in spite of odds sustained attempts will have to be made for the cause of peace. He said not only should there be contact between federal governments of the neighbouring countries but also the provincial governments. Anushay Rehman said the returning delegation will submit its recommendations before parliament.

Talks to resolve Sir Creek issue underway: Antony

Defense Minister A K Antony has said that efforts were being made to resolve the disputed Sir Creek issue with Pakistan. “The dialogue process is on to resolve the issue with the neighboring country, but we can’t give a time limit,” Antony told media-persons after inaugurating the Remote Operating Station (ROS) of the Coastal Radar Network at Porbandar. Sir Creek is a 98-km disputed territory between India and Pakistan in the Rann of Kutch marshlands, which opens up into the Arabian Sea. The Sir Creek divides the Kutch region of Gujarat and Sindh province of Pakistan. Antony inaugurated the Gujarat leg of the ROS as part of the coastal radar network, which has been envisaged to provide security cover for the coastline. Earlier in the day, he inaugurated a similar system in Maharashtra. “With the inauguration of this system, the country will be able to meet any challenges that arise either from outside or within”, Antony said.
