Explosives defused, two drivers abducted in Balochistan

The Bomb Disposal Squad defused explosives placed along the National Highway near Shahi Chowki area of Nasirabad district, as at least two truck drivers were abducted in violence across Balochistan on Sunday. Police said unknown men had placed explosive material along the roadside. Acting on a tip-off, a police team along with the Bomb Disposal Squad reached the site and defused the explosive device weighing five kilograms. Police have registered a case and started investigations. Separately, three persons including the driver of an oil tanker were injured in a firing incident in the same region late on Saturday night. According to the police, a local oil tanker was on its way to Sindh from Quetta when armed assailants on a motorbike opened fire on it on the National Highway near Mangoli area. As a result, driver Muhammad Ishaq Bangulzai, Khan Muhammad and Ihsan Shah received bullet wounds. In another incident, unknown armed men abducted two truck drivers from Gandawa and Dangra areas of Balochistan on Sunday morning. According to the police, a truck was intercepted by unknown kidnappers on the National Highway near Gandawa area of Jhal Magsi district. Its driver Abdul Rehman was abducted at gunpoint. Another truck driver Muhammad Ismail, resident of Mach, was kidnapped from the National Highway near the Dangra area by unidentified gunmen. Police have registered cases and started efforts for their recovery.
