Corruption probe against Lahore education EDO begins

Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has started investigation against Lahore Education EDO Pervaiz Akhter on charges of financial embezzlements and irregularities in recruitment of employees, ACE sources said on Sunday.
Having received a complaint against the EDO from Syed Zeeshan Haider, a subject specialist of a secondary school, the Punjab chief secretary had earlier directed the ACE to start investigation.
The sources said further that after initial investigation the ACE DG had deputed Director ACE Lahore region to launch a thorough probe into the matter and start proceedings against the accused.
In his application to the chief secretary, the complainant said the EDO had been involved in financial embezzlement in purchasing furniture and other school items of worth about Rs 15 million.
He further alleged that the EDO had recruited 140 employees in BS-1 to 4 in violation of merit and through corrupt practices.
