Aitzaz for summoning Faisal Raza Abidi in contempt case

Former President of the Supreme Court Bar Association, Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan has said that the Supreme Court should summon Senator Faisal Raza Abidi on contempt of court charges and probe the whole matter. Talking to media at the residence of the newly elected President of Abbottabad High Court Bar Association, Saeed Akhtar Khan, Aitzaz said that no country had presented its head of state in courts of another country in 500 years of history. He reiterated his stance that as long as Asif Ali Zardari was president, he enjoyed immunity. He said that the Supreme Court had exceeded its powers and sentenced Prime Minister Gilani in a case which was not in indictment. He said that on April 26, seven judges awarded a 30 seconds sentence to the former prime minister but did not disqualify him, against which Imran Khan filed a writ petition. He said that the PPP Core committee decided not to appeal against the verdict for disqualifying the Prime Minister. Answering a question, Aitzaz said that there is no harm in writing a letter to the Swiss authorities, and he was not going to appear in the court for the Prime Minister. He said that the core committee of the Party would decide whether Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf should appear before the court or not.
