33 Taliban killed in Afghanistan, claims ministry

Around 33 Taliban insurgents have been killed in operations carried out by the Afghan police, army and NATO-led coalition forces within the past 24 hours, the country’s Interior Ministry informed on Sunday morning. “Up to six other armed Taliban insurgents were wounded and two suspects were detained by joint forces in the above operations conducted in Kabul, Nangarhar, Kandahar, Zabul, Uruzgan, Logar, Ghazni, Paktika and Helmand provinces,” the ministry said in a statement. They also found and seized weapons, but did not mention any casualties on the side of security forces. The Taliban insurgent group has yet to issue a statement. More than 350 insurgents have been killed, 60 wounded and over 180 others detained across the country since the beginning of this month, according to figures released by the Afghan Interior Ministry.
