Uncontrolled lawlessness and unrest claimed 10 more lives in the city whereas police claimed to have arrested several suspected target killers on Saturday. Some nine people were also injured in the various incidents of violence.
Two persons died of gunshot wounds in separate incidents in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area while two dead bodies were found from Napier and Surjani town area.
A security guard was killed and three others were injured in Defense area following a scuffle that broke out between the personnel of a private security company.
Sources said a heated argument between the guards of a private security company escalated to physical violence after which one of the personnel attacked the other with a knife leading to his death.
The attacker and two other people present at the scene also suffered injuries. Two more persons were stabbed to death in Korangi No 2 area.
Two more people were killed and three injured in separate incidents of violence that took place in Orangi Town’s Frontier Colony area and Qasba Colony.
A body was recovered from the jurisdiction of Eidgah police station.
Moreover, police in Gulbahar claimed to have arrested a suspect involved in various incidents of targeted killings.
Sources said that the suspect had confessed to his involvement in the assassination of Maulana Abdul Samad Soomro, the caretaker and Khateeb of Lal Masjid and allied seminary, situated in the Firdous Colony area of Gulbahar.
Darakhshan police claimed to have arrested two suspected target killers from Defense area during a raid.
Police conducted a search operation in Karachi’s Shanto Nagar during which five suspects were taken into custody. According to police sources, weapons had also been recovered from the suspects.
SHOP ATTACKED WITH HAND GRENADE
The extortionists continue to harass traders of the city as a shop in Saddar area was attacked with a hand grenade on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the police arrested an attacker during the operation, while others managed to flee. The shopkeeper had informed the police about the extortionists.
Three girls drown at Hub dam: Three girls were drowned while they were taking bathing along the shores of Hub dam here on Saturday.
According to details, three girls visited Hub dam and they were swimming in the water. The water washed them away and they drowned in the water.
The rescue team recovered dead bodies and shifted them to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities.
