Sindh Law Minister Ayaz Soomro on Saturday claimed that Punjab Chief Minster Shahbaz Sharif had disappeared from Malir Jail and now he was ‘wanted’ in plane hijacking case after 10 years.
While talking to media in Sindh Assembly Secretariat, Soomro said the Punjab CM was a runaway prisoner and he will soon be awarded punishment. The law minister’s surprising words also revealed that Shahbaz was convicted in the hijacking case on April 7, 2002, but later he disappeared from the prison.
The jail authorities have record of his punishment but not of his release, he said.
Soomro also went on to say that a public notice would be published in the national newspapers to warn the absconder. The chief minister was sent to the jail with his elder brother and former prime minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
