Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Liaquat Baloch has appealed to all opposition parties to form a grand alliance in order to ensure transparent voter lists for free, fair and impartial elections.
In a statement issued at Mansoora on Saturday, Baloch said the alliance should also put pressure on government to develop a consensus on a care taker set up.
He said code of conduct issued by Election Commission for general elections should be implemented in letter and spirit in order to avoid unfair voting on polling day.
JI secretary general said the government should announce the schedule of general elections forthwith as it had failed to solve the problems of the people on all fronts.
He said that President Asif Zardari’s wish to prolong his rule would earn him disgrace more than his predecessor Pervaiz Musharraf.
He said JI had not decided to form an alliance with any political and religious party, however, it was in contact with them for upcoming general elections.
Baloch said JI desired that patriotic forces should come forward and chalk out a strategy free of foreign pressure in order to steer the country out of political and economic crises.
He said only Islam could provide solutions to problems being faced by humanity and JI was struggling for imposition of shariah in the country.

  1. Is it going to make any difference as far as your party is concerned? None, I believe.
You must be day-dreaming if you think of winning a seat in parliament.
