Demanding the formation of a national commission for creation of new provinces in the country, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has stressed indiscriminate, uniform standards nationwide.
Talking to media after inaugurating the Monsoon Plantation Drive at the canal near Johar Town on Friday, he reminded that PML-N had tabled the resolution for creating new provinces in the country.
He also stressed on forming a uniform procedure and rules for all such endeavors, especially if such creation(s) are based on administrative patterns.
Shahbaz was also chagrined over the government’s failure to take PML-N into confidence over the issue; especially over the commission formed for the bifurcation of Punjab, over which he expressed dire reservations.
Answering a question, he declared the Metro Bus Project (MBP) a historical mega project, to provide safe and comfortable transportation for all segments of society; something that would radically change the concept of transportation in the country.
Earlier, while inaugurating the plantation drive, the Punjab chief minister planted a mango sapling alongside the green belt and prayed for a green revolution.
He informed participants that more than 10,000 citrus, jambolin, guava and mango saplings would be planted on both sides of Thokar Niaz Beg, up to Mall Road, and other parts of the city as well.
CM presides over PAMCO meeting:
Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said on Friday that the Punjab Agricultural and Meat Company (PAMCO) has been established to ensure provision of quality and hygienic meat to the citizens at affordable rates as well as earning precious foreign exchange for the country through meat export.
Presiding over a high level meeting to review matters relating to PAMCO, he stressed the need to make the institution operational at the earliest, and directed the outsource committee to complete the work of outsourcing the contracts of PAMCO by November 10.
The CM said that separate agreements should be made with the concerned companies regarding export of meat products.
He added that indiscriminate action should be taken against illegal abattoirs while registration work of mutton shops should be further expedited.
He also said that arrangements should be made to supply meat in different areas of the provincial metropolis through mobile meat shops, which would operate under PAMCO.
PML-N can not come into power through non-political means: Aslam Gill
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senior leader Ch. M. Aslam Gill has said that the dream of Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) to gain power through non-political routes would never materialize. In a statement issued on Friday, he said, “The myth of PML-N’s popularity was fully exposed during the last by-elections. Now people are politically mature and cannot be hoodwinked any more.” He hoped that PPP would come to power with a heavy mandate after the next general elections as it was serving people in line with the vision of Benazir Bhutto. Gill said that Punjab’s rulers were responsible for the deprivations of people in southern Punjab, adding that PPP would make southern Punjab a province so that people from this neglected area could be brought to par with other parts of the country. He urged all political parties to support PPP for the sake of Saraiki people’s rights.
