A senior police official who allegedly shot at and killed a 23-year-old youth over a car parking issue on Eidul Fitr was sent to the Sargodha District Jail.
Sargodha additional SP Nasir Muneef Qureshi was sent to the district jail as the police didn’t feel the need of getting his physical remand because of availability of necessary evidence and witnesses’ accounts.
The SP has been suspended from service and the Establishment Division has been requested to proceed against him.
Tahir Mahmood lost his life after Nasir Qureshi, who was reportedly drunk, opened indiscriminate fire on four youngsters.
Kidnapper killed in shootout
A kidnapper was killed in a police shoot-out in Jallo area on Friday, a private news channel reported.
According to the channel, Waqar Shabbir who was a resident of Mughalpura and a businessman by profession was kidnapped by his elder brother’s friends from Gulberg area.
Kidnappers Ishfaq and Azam demanded Rs 5 million in ransom from his family but their demand could not be fulfilled. The kidnappers therefore killed Waqas and threw his body in a canal near Faisalabad.
On getting information, the police raided the hideout of the criminals in Jallo, where the kidnappers opened fire on them. The police returned the fire and killed Ishfaq on the spot while Azam was arrested.
Police said that they had informed Faisalabad police to recover the dead body of the deceased.
Dacoit gang busted
Cantonment Police investigation division have smashed a dacoit gang on Friday and arrested its three members besides recovering seven stolen motorcycles, Rs 80,000 in cash, five mobile phones and three pistols from their possession.
During preliminary interrogation, the gangsters confessed to snatching 25 motorcycles, while also being involved in robberies in different parts of the city.
A special police team, led by Deputy Superintendant of Police (DSP) Baghbanpura arrested the accused of Cheema dacoit gang.
The arrested persons were identified as Atif Waseem alias Cheema, Shahbaz and Shakeel.
Video with instructions on how to make a bomb recovered
Lahore police on Friday recovered a video with instructions on how to make a bomb from an accused taking photographs of the judges in the Lahore High Court (LHC)
Police said that the accused, identified as Rahim Saleem, had downloaded the video in his cell phone and a photograph of the accused holding a weapon and jihadi literature was also found in his cell phone.
A case has been registered against the accused under Ant-Terrorist Act. The suspect Rahim is under investigation about his links with the outlawed organizations, police said.
