Khan of Kalat plays down August 14 ceremony at Ziarat

Khan of Kalat Mir Suleman Khan Daud has said that no one should take pride in hoisting the Pakistani flag on Ziarat Residency on August 14 where the country’s founding father Mohammad Ali Jinnah was put under house arrest in the last days of his life for his change of mind for a United India.
Talking to the reporters over telephone on Friday from London, the Khan, grandson of last ruler of princely state of Kalat, claimed that Jinnah had been put under house arrest in Ziarat Residency because he showed repentance over his efforts for the creation of Pakistan and wanted a United India. He said the people should be told the real history of Ziarat Residency. The Khan, whose son Prince Mohammad Ahmadzai, attended Pakistan Day celebrations in Ziarat as the chief guest along with military officials, said his son’s presence at the ceremony was an attempt to blackmail Baloch nation, both psychologically and emotionally, for their struggle for independent Baloch homeland.
He said Baloch would not succumb to such tactics as they had reached a point of no return. Commenting on his son’s speech at the ceremony, he said he was right that his grandfather told him two things that never sell out his faith and never betray the country but his son was just six years old and did not comprehended the meaning of “country”, which was Balochistan not Pakistan. He said Balochs country, although occupied, was Balochistan and Baloch people had been struggling for independence since its occupation in 1948 at the hand of Pakistani forces.
