Floods being caused by India, not rains: Munawar Hasan

Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan chief Syed Munawar Hasan has said the flood situation in Pakistan was being caused by India diverting river water to the country, not by rains.
“India is controlling the waters of Pakistani rivers because of its unlawful occupation of Kashmir and has built dozens of dams over these rivers and is in a position to either turn our lands into a desert by stopping water or cause floods by releasing rain water to this country,” he said during his address at the Friday congregation at Mansoora mosque.
He urged the government to stage world wide protest against India and snap trade and other ties with it until it restored our share of river waters.
The JI chief praised Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry for taking suo motu notice of the Balochistan situation and said the government was not serious in resolving the issues referred to by the chief justice, instead, it was announcing meaningless packages.
“In fact, the Baloch ministers are responsible for the lawlessness and uprising in the province, but instead of taking them to task, the federal government was protecting them,” he said.
He stressed upon the PML-N and the JUI-F to take solid steps for mitigating the sufferings of the Bloch people.
He said the country would have to adopt self reliance to get rid of the interest-based economy and escape the clutches of IMF.
Hasan said secular and amoral culture in the country had made it difficult to adopt the path of virtue, while sinning was quite easy.
The rulers were giving preference to US slavery and were promoting a system that was in conflict with the Quran and Sunnah, he said, adding that the masses must revolt against the rulers for bringing about a change.
The JI chief said it would be naïve to expect the United Nations to stop drone attacks.
He said if rulers had any sense of national honor and courage, they should order striking down drones in line with parliament’s resolution.
He said according to US estimates, almost 98 percent of those being killed by drones were innocent, but the cowardly rulers were not ready to present their case to the world due to US fear.
