A woman committed suicide while her husband was rescued after they jumped into a canal over domestic disputes. Batala Colony police said that taxi driver Arshad Butt, resident of Waris Pura, was under stress due to financial constraints and exchange of hot words was a routine matter between the couple. Arshad along with his wife Kalsoom Bibi went to Pindi Bhattian to see his daughter where they jumped into a canal. Passers-by immediately informed the rescue staff that rushed to the spot and was able to rescue Arshad while his wife drowned. Arshad was shifted to hospital in a critical condition. The body of Kalsoom was handed over to her relatives for burial after completing the necessary formalities.
