Bodies continue to fall Four killed, 10 injured in violence

At least four persons were killed and several others were injured in various incidents of violence and target killings in different areas of the metropolis here on Friday.
According to police, armed men of rival group gunned down a member of opponent group in Korangi area of city. One person was killed in firing by two unidentified men in Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block-2. The incident created scare among the people who immediately closed down their businesses.
Bullet-riddled and tortured dead body of a man who was kidnapped for ransom some three days earlier was found from Old City area. Police recovered a limb-tied body of an unknown man from Jamia Cloth market area. Meanwhile, firing incidents continued in different areas of the city including Super Highway, Sohrab Goth, Gulistan-e-Johar during which 10 persons were reported injured. The injured were shifted to different hospitals of concerned areas.
Police arrest 35 accused in last 24 hours: The Karachi police in their on-going drive against criminals arrested 35 accused during the last 24 hours. A police statement on Friday said that those arrested included three absconders.
It said that two encounters took place with the police and that three gangs of alleged criminals were busted during the period. In all, 25 pistols, one dagger, four mobile phones and cash of Rs 6,600 recovered from the possession of the accused, the police statement further pointed out.
Doctors protest torture on colleagues : Doctors of the Civil Hospital staged a protest against torture on a doctor and a technician here on Friday. The doctors also postponed 150 operations due to the protest. They threatened to close OPD service today (Saturday). Senior doctor Professor Hameerul Islam was tortured by family members of a man who was admitted in hospital after he was injured in a firing incident. He succumbed to injuries during treatment at the hospital and the family blamed the doctors for the negligence.
