PDMA keeping an eye on the rivers: DG

Mujhaid Sherdil (PDMA) Director General Mujhaid Sherdil on Thursday said that district administration is updating the people about the water levels of rivers and nullahs across the province. He said that erosion in rivers due to monsoon is not an unnatural phenomenon.
He further added that water had entered a few houses in Burj Battain village near Qadirabad due to erosion in the river and the administration of the area took timely action and drained out the water from the houses, he added.

Flood arrangements reviewed, again:
Punjab Health Secretary Arif Nadeem on Thursday directed Director General Health Punjab Dr Nisar Ahmad Cheema to physically verify relief arrangements made for high risk flood districts including Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura and Lahore.
While presiding over a meeting for reviewing arrangements for the provision of quality medical care to people in flood high risk areas, he instructed DG health to verify these arrangements and to ensure presence of medical staff and availability of anti-viral vaccines and other medicines.
He also ordered concerned officials to remain vigilant and to keep a close eye on the situation so that people could be provided with prompt assistance in case of an emergency.
