Pakistan Today

Credibility? What credibility?

The ministers of this government have lost their credibility and no member of the public is ready to believe their statements. ‘There will be no load shedding from Dec 31, 2010’; the load shedding multiplied manifold and there seems to be no respite in foreseeable future. ‘The law and order situation in Karachi is completely in control’; 10 killings per day, if not more, is now a routine. ‘There is prosperity in the country’; more people are being pushed below the poverty line and the economic crisis is escalating. ‘There is complete sectarian harmony’; the killing of Shias in Balochistan or Pakhtunkhawa at regular intervals has become a routine matter at the hands of terrorists. ‘Minorities are enjoying complete protection’; thousands of Hindus who were residing in Pakistan since generation are now migrating to India. To secure ourselves we have to close down mobile services even on Eid and parks have to close down at 9 pm depriving them of the few recreational spaces they do have.
‘Pakistan nukes are safe’ is yet another big statement by our ministries of defence and foreign affairs. Can we really believe?
