Violence claims 9 lives during Eid holidays

At least five persons including a woman were killed and five injured in incidents of violence in different area of the city on Wednesday. One body was found near the city’s old airport. It was reported to be a 20-year-old girl and bore torture marks. Another body was found in a gunny bag at a landfill site near the Risala police station. The body bore torture marks and the victim had been shot dead. A third body bearing torture marks was found near the city’s Old Sabzi Mandi. However, the bodies, found near Risala police station and the Old Sabzi Mandi could not be identified.
In a separate incident, unknown attackers shot and killed one person standing outside his house in North Karachi’s Sector 4. The man had been shot in the head and had died on the spot. In another incident that took place in Lyari’s Musa Lane neighborhood, five persons, including a woman, were injured when unknown assailants opened fired during the urs at the tomb of Baba Hussein Shah. The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital, Karachi.
A young man was also killed when unidentified men opened fire on him in the Khawaja Ajmer Nagri area of the city. Moreover, a laborer, who had been injured during the April 4 attack on SSP Malir Rao Anwer’s car near Malir Halt, succumbed to his injuries after fighting for his life for four months.
On first day of Eid-ul- Fitr at least four persons were killed and 11 others injured in acts of violence in different parts of Karachi. According to details, some unidentified persons opened fire and shot dead a man in Orangi Town area. The deceased was identified as Shahid.
Gunmen also shot dead a man in Pehalwan Goth while police recovered two dead bodies from Shorab Goth and Gulshan Iqbal. Meanwhile, four persons sustained injuries in a clash between two rival groups in Landhi. Another four people were injured in firing incidents in Korangi Industrial Area and Memon Goth. At least three people received bullet injuries when dacoits opened fire in Muzaffarabad Colony of Landhi.
