Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik has claimed that the government was making all efforts for the safe recovery of Shahbaz Taseer, son of slain Punjab governor Salman Taseer and struggle in this regard would soon prove to be fruitful. In his message on twitter, Rehman Malik said that “multiple efforts” on the part of the government were underway which would result in a “positive” outcome. He said that the day is not far away when Shahbaz Taseer would be with his family.
It should be mentioned that during the previous month, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah during a chat with a private TV channel had claimed that the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) had been negotiating with militants about Shahbaz’s release. Sanaullah said that the kidnappers were demanding a huge amount as ransom as well as release of some of their detained colleagues. Shahbaz Taseer was kidnapped from Lahore on Aug 26, 2011 in the morning near his company’s head office. This incident took place not long after his father Salman Taseer was killed by his bodyguard last year after he criticised Pakistan’s blasphemy laws.
