Property feud claims eight lives in Bhalwal

A property-sprung feud claimed the lives of at least eight people in Bhalwal tehsil, as rival groups resorted to indiscriminate gunfire overnight, media reports said on Wednesday. The deceased include three women as well. According to police, two factions of the Warriach community were at loggerheads over a patch of land in Chak-6 Shumali. One of the factions stormed the house of their adversaries and gunned down five people including a woman on the spot.
Meanwhile, six others, including four women, were injured in the shooting. The injured and the dead bodies were shifted to Bhalwal Civil Hospital, where six people, including four women, succumbed to injuries, raising the death toll to eight. The injured include two children. Police have started investigations into the incident.
