A youth was killed while his two friends were seriously injured in a mob lynching incident in the Joharabad locality of Tando Adam in Sindh late on Wednesday night while the police stood by as silent spectators, Geo News reported.
According to the TV channel, three youths, including one identified as Ghulam Muhammad, brought a girl to a house in a Joharabad when the locals besieged the property and demanded the boys come out of the premises. The youths telephoned their friends who arrived in the area with weapons and opened fire on the locals.
Reports said that a child was injured in the firing which infuriated the residents and they forced their way into the house and dragged the three men out in the street. The angry mob ruthlessly beat up the youths, killing Ghulam Muhammad and injuring his two friends. The police also arrived on the scene in the meantime but chose to let the people vent their anger on the youths.
Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah took notice of the incident after it was reported on the TV channel and sought an inquiry within 48 hours. According to the channel, two people have been taken into custody for their alleged role in the incident.
