Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Munawar Hasan has welcomed army chief’s statement ruling out joint operation in North Waziristan and termed it in harmony with the nation’s aspirations.
He expressed the hope that the armed forces would foil all conspiracies against the country’s geographical and ideological boundaries that were being hatched by anti-state elements.
He was addressing a ceremony marking the conclusion of the Holy Quran in Taraweeh at the Mansoora mosque. Maulana Abdul Malik, Maulana Syed Mehmud Ahmed Farooqi, and Ch Aslam Saleemi were also present.
Hasan said that the US’ claims of pulling out from Afghanistan by 2014 were false and it was planning permanent stay in the area which was evident from the statements of different US officials visiting the area. He said that the US designs to curtail Pakistan’s influence in the region and increase India’s hold were no secret but Pakistani rulers were not smart enough to understand that.
“The drones are violating our territory and killing innocent citizens,” he said, adding that the law and order in the country was poor whereas the Interior Ministry had failed to check the terrorist attacks in spite of getting prior information.
The JI ameer said that the world needed the Quranic revolution and it could only be brought about by those who were imbued with the faith in the Quran and were implementing its teachings in their day to day life.
He said that those who were openly violating the Quranic injunctions and playing in the hands of Islam’s enemies could not bring about this resolution.
He said that the revolution was heading towards Pakistan from Egypt and Turkey and a change in the country in line with Islam was inevitable.
