The Rawal Town tehsil municipal administration (TMA) has confiscated 500 unwrapped tyres from various city markets in its campaign against dengue.
The tyres were confiscated from tyre shops as the city district government had strictly warned the shopkeepers to properly pack and cover them to reduce the risk of the spread of dengue.
Rawal Town Administrator Saif Anwar Jappa has urged the tyre shops owners to cooperate with the TMA staff so that solid steps could be taken to control dengue in the city.
He also warned that the violators would be dealt with strictly and their tyres would not only be confiscated but cases would also be registered against them.
The administrator directed Town Officer Regulation (TOR) Aftab Chohan to launch an operation immediately to stop the business of uncovered tyres in the town. The TOR along with a special team conducted raids on Saturday and confiscated 500 unpacked tyres from Babu Lal Hussain Road.
The shopkeepers have been warned to stop the business of unwrapped tyres immediately otherwise stern action would be taken. Tyre puncture shops have also been directed to take all preventive steps and wrap all tyres properly to save them rainwater, which could be a perfect breading place for dengue mosquitoes.
