Musharraf is a traitor: AQ Khan

Nuclear scientist and architect of Pakistan’s nuclear program Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan on Saturday said that former president General Pervez Musharraf had caused enormous damage to the country and is a traitor to the nation.
Dr AQ Khan, in an interview, claimed that Musharraf had handed over top secret centrifuge of the country to the US and must be treated as a traitor. He added that there is no threat to the nuclear program of the country since a powerful command and control authority was in place to ensure the safety of the nuclear assets of the country.
He further said that Musharraf had lead the country into deep crisis and the masses have had to suffer because of his poor leadership. He quoted the example of unrest in Balochistan as a result of Musharraf’s bad decisions.
Calling Musharraf the killer of Nawab Akbar Bugti, he suggested that Musharraf should be handed over to the chieftain of the Bugti tribe to “appease the grievances of the Baloch people”. He denied accusations that he had sold nuclear technology to foreign countries and claimed that the notion of inconceivable for him. He praised General Kidwai for his work and reiterated his confidence that Pakistan’s nuclear assets are in safe hands. Dr Khan said, “Our beloved country has been facing numerous challenges. US intervention in internal affairs of the country is a very grave issue”. He added¸ “As a one nation, we need to unite against the foreign aggression in the best interest of the country”. Dr AQ Khan expressed his view that honest and capable leadership with the support of a team of technocrats of impeccable character could steer the country out of prevailing crisis and put the country on road to progress and prosperity. He said that Pakistan is blessed with enormous mineral and other resources and the only thing the nation need is a good leadership to use these resources for the welfare of the people of the country.

  1. AQ Khan admitted to selling nuclear technology to other countries for his own benifit. There is indisputable evidence of that. By selling this technology to other countries, he has put Pakistan's own nuclear assets at risk. Even under tremendous pressure, Musharraf refused to hand him over to the United States otherwise AQ Khan would be in Guantanamo prison today. He owes Musharraf for saving his life. He should not be so ungrateful and should not make statements against a person who saved his skin from being tortured in America.

  2. With due respect, Dr. Saheb's statements and interviews lately on various subjects, are so conradictory and confusing that it requires his mental evaluation, seriously.
