PK to start ‘Meat & Dairy Project’

The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) has decided to start a 2-years project of ‘Meat and Dairy Development’ with a cost of 150 millions to overcome the increasing demand of protein products in the province.
According to a private television channel, KPK is producing almost 50 lac metric tons of milk per year, which is strikingly less average per animal in the province.
KPK government purchases the extra milk from Punjab to overcome domestic demand. It is in the backdrop of such facts that the provincial government has decided to start a project to increase production of meat and dairy. According to blueprints of the plan, government would give economical and technical help to the people related with dairy and poultry fields. With this project, modern training would also be given to 250 people in the province.
The project is scheduled to start from 25 different districts at the same time, which would also provide job opportunities to the people besides increasing the production of meat and dairy.
Once the plan gets materialised, the province would get 1134, 184 metric tons extra production of beef and mutton respectively. While Rs 370 million is also expected to be added to the national treasury.
