Taliban believed to be involved in kidnapping on workers on Gomal Zam Dam site At least eight people, including employees working on the under-construction Gomal Zam Dam in South Waziristan, have been abducted by unknown persons on Thursday. Those abducted were traveling from Gomal Zam to Tank aboard two vehicles. The vehicles were ambushed by unknown armed persons when they reached Kot Murtaza, near Tank city. The abductees include a soldier of the security forces, a sub divisional officer (SDO) and a sub engineer working on the dam site.
The armed, unidentified kidnappers have taken all eight abductees to an unknown location. So far, no one has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping but officials believe that there might be Taliban involvement in this act. Those who were abducted identified as SDO Shahid, Sub Engineer Sana Ullah, Driver Siraj, army soldier Mushtaq, Shujaat, Muneer and Liaqat. The security forces have embarked on search operation but the outcome of this operation is not yet known to the public.
