The education boards all over Punjab will charge fee on account of issuance of certificates that are conferred on passing the examination.
Fee for a certificate which amounts to Rs 450 per student will be received together with the registration fee from all the students registered to take the examination. The fee for certificate will not be refunded to those students who do not take the examination or fail to get through.
Sources said a committee comprising heads of all education boards of Punjab proposed the provincial government that they were facing economic difficulties and, to encounter the crisis, the boards should be permitted to charge fee on issuance of certificates. The education circles have showed concern and are thinking to formulate a strategy against the newly imposed fee.
On the other hand, the Rawalpindi Board spokesperson is of the view the pros and cons of the decision about the imposition of fee on certificates are being taken into consideration.
