SBP takes country’s independence into the air

The Sports Board Punjab in its build up to the Punjab Youth Festival 2012, held a special Independence Day evening on the footsteps of Minar-i-Pakistan on August 14 and on the occasions model airplanes of different nature took the country’s flag into the air while fascinating the participants with unusual acrobats.
The function also featured characters like Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Fatima Jinnah and other heroes of Pakistan’s independence struggle.
Apart from the SBP Director General Mr Usman Anwar several other dignitaries were present on the occasion which was also graced by Speaker Punjab Rana Mohammad Iqbal, Deputy Speaker Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, secretary sports Haroon Ahmed Khan, DCO Lahore Noorul Amin and principal staff of the Chief Minister Punjab.
Small airplane models’ flight in the air above Minar-i-Pakistan attracted all the participants. These model planes carried the national flags into the air which made the occasion more charming and worth-watching. A number of school children also presented tableau creating an atmosphere of independence and sang national songs while they were attired in characters of the nation’s creators and father of the nation.
Speaking on the occasion, Rana Mashood reminded the participants about the main purpose of the formation of Pakistan and informed that his government is bringing the youth of the country to one platform through Sports and Punjab Youth Festival.
“We are giving them the purpose and direction to work for the country and implement their dream into reality,” he added. Speaking on the occasion, Usman Awar said that the main reason to organize the evening on the platform of the Punjab Youth Festival on this special occasion was to give a message to the youth to dare to achieve their goal.
He further added that the Festival will roll into action from August 26 throughout the province in which apart from other sports competitions a number of social events will also be held.
