Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Syed Munawar Hasan said on Tuesday, that independence is incomplete as long as there is US interference in the country. He said this at a flag hoisting ceremony held at JI headquarters Mansoora in the presence of hundreds of JI workers and leaders. Former JI chief Qazi Hussain Ahmed and JI Secretary General Liaquat Baloch also addressed the gathering. The JI chief said that the rulers were the “mental slaves” of their Western masters and following their policies could not make the country truly independent. He said the US interference in the country was the root cause of terrorism, lawlessness, unemployment and poverty in the country. The JI chief said that the US and NATO would not be able to realize their designs in the region without Pakistan’s support. However, instead of benefiting from the strategic position of the country, the country’s rulers had bowed before the US and sold out national sovereignty. Stating that general elections were likely to be held before the next Independence Day, Hasan urged the masses to vote for “honest and God fearing leader of the JI” if they really wanted a change.
