Minister concerned over civic problems

Provincial Minister Raza Haroon has expressed concern over the water supply, drainage and cleanliness issues affecting the residents of the city.
The minister chaired a meeting of the officials of the district administration, Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) and the municipality at the Circuit House here on Tuesday.
Provincial Minister Zubair Ahmed, MNA Salahuddin, MNA Tayyab Hussain, MPA Akram Adil Shaikh, MPA Waseem Hussain, Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad Ahmed Baksh Narejo, Deputy Commissioner Agha Shahnawaz Babur, SSP Pir Farid Jan Sarhandi and others attended the meeting.
Haroon held the concerned organizations responsible for the deteriorating services warning them of action if they failed to discharge their duties.
He observed that the widespread uncleanliness, heaps of garbage and puddles of sewage water flowing over the roads were a perpetual nuisance for the citizens and a health concern as well. The minister said that the Eid was in the offing and the citizens who are also the tax payers deserve a neat and clean environment to mark the yearly celebration of Eid.
The minister was informed at the meeting that the areas of City taluka in particular were facing that situation while Latifabad and Qasimabad also had the same problem but with less intensity. The minister assured the concerned authorities that he would approach the provincial government to release the requisite funds so that they could fulfill their duty and keep the city clean. He strictly warned the Municipal Commissioner to ensure that no employee of the municipality was absent from duty and to take action on the ghost employees.
