Uncontrolled incidents of target killings and violence continued to claim innocent lives in different areas of the city as five more people were gunned down and several others injured in separate incidents on Tuesday.
According to police, unknown motorcyclists opened firing near Madina Masjid in the city area of Saeedabad, killing Sunni Tehreek’s office-bearer Aftab Chishti and a worker Faheem Qadri on the spot. Three other persons sustained injuries in the incident. The incident spawned tension in the entire area raising apprehension that situation may aggravate during the next few days. The ST leader Shahid Ghauri termed the incident as the failure of the government.
A youth Asif was gunned down near Nursery bus-stop at Shahra-e-Faisal. The deceased was resident of Gulshan-e-Maimar. In Khyber Chowk, Frontier Colony area, unknown armed men gunned down a local office-bearer of a political party Amir Sardar and workers Rehmat Ali and Bakht Khan and an unknown passerby.
Meantime, after the incident of double murders here in Baldia Town, heavy contingent of police conducted search operation in Manghopir areas of Kanwari Colony, Pakhtoonabad and Sultanabad amidst security cordon and took into custody over 25 suspected people.
According to police sources, weapons, narcotics and snatched motorbikes were also recovered from the possession of the arrested miscreants. Further investigations are underway.
