Education needs to be banked on

Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran said on Tuesday that Pakistanis must value the blessing of independence.
He was addressing the flag hoisting ceremony in connection with Independence Day here in front of VC Office, New Campus.
Acting Registrar Prof Dr Aurangzeb Alamgir, Controller Examinations Prof Dr Liaquat Ali, Prof Dr Khawaja Amjad Saeed, Prof Dr Ehsan Malik, Member Syndicate Javed Samee, Shumaila Gul, senior faculty members, employees, students and children participated in the ceremony.
Kamran said, “The then British rulers had destroyed the future of our literate young Muslims by declaring English language as official language and had deprived them of good government jobs.” After 1857 Independence war, the British prime minister had issued instructions that historical buildings and architecture of the Muslim must be razed to the ground, he added.
“The country can only progress is attention is paid to the education sector. The nation has been blessed with great potential and intelligence and in order to tap into it, education is compulsory,” he said.
He said that Punjab University was a mini-Pakistan and if it could progress the so could Pakistan. He advised all the Pakistanis to do their work with honesty rather than criticizing others. “We must praise and appreciate others on their achievements and good performance,” he added.
