City drenched in national fervor

Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah along with members of the Sindh cabinet visited mausoleum of father of the nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, to pay homage to the great leader on 66th Independence Day of the country.
They also laid floral wreaths, offered fateha and marked their impressions in the visitors’ book at the Mazar-e-Quaid.
Sindh ministers including Pir Mazhar-ul-haq, Mohan Lal, Haji Muzaffar Shujra and Rafiq Engineer, Shoaib Bukhari, Provincial Advisors, Rashid Rabbani, Haleem Adil Sheikh, Sharmila Farooqi and Siddiq Abu Bhai, head of Pakistan Hindu Council ex-MPA Ramesh Kumar, Karachi Administrator, Muhammad Hussain Syed and Karachi Commissioner Roshan Ali Shaikh, Sindh Inspector General Police Fayyaz Leghari and other notables also accompanied with the governor.
Democratic govt to fulfill people’s aspirations: Qaim
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Tuesday said the present democratic government would fulfill the aspirations of the people.
He was talking to media persons on his visit to the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah to pay tribute to him on the 66th Independence Day of Pakistan.
He said democratic governments and dictators had ruled the country during the last 65 years. Forming coalition governments in the center and provinces had been envisioned by Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, who, he said had talked to all political parties with emphasis on importance of the democratic and constitutional government. He said no Hindu family was leaving Sindh to get settled in the neighbouring country. Whoever leaves, returns after meeting his relatives, he added.
He said President Asif Ali Zardari along with leaders of various political parties including Altaf Hussain, Asfandyar Wali Khan and Pir Pagaro had formed the coalition government in the center and the provinces. The CM said the government would fulfill the promises which it had made to the people. He said Karachi was the largest city of Pakistan, where thousands of people come and return. No one would have visited the metropolis if the situation would not have been stale, he added. He said all would have to work jointly to improve the situation in city. He said the Pakistan Muslim League Functional (PML-F) was also part of the coalition government and its present leadership was cooperating with the government.
He said discussion was underway between the Pakistan Peoples Party and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement regarding local government system and soon both the parties would reach an agreement. All other political parties would also be taken into confidence, he added.
Naval Academy cadets take over guard duty at Mazar-e-Quaid
A smartly turned contingent of cadets from the Pakistan Naval Academy on Tuesday took over guard duties at the mausoleum of father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah to pay homage to the great leader on the 66th Independence Day of Pakistan.
The change of guard ceremony was held at the Mazar-e-Quaid on the occasion of Independence Day of Pakistan. Chief guest of the ceremony, Commandant Pakistan Navy, Commodore Zahid Illyas, inspected the guard of honour and laid a floral wreath and offered fateha at the Mazar-e-Quaid.
In his impressions marked in the visitors’ book, Commodore Zahid Illyas paid a glowing tribute to the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Earlier, a smartly turned contingent of Pakistan Navy also presented guard of honor to the father of Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
Flag hoisted at Mazar-e-Quaid on Independence Day
The main flag hoisting ceremony was held in the provincial capital to mark the 66th Independence Day of Pakistan at the mausoleum of the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, here on Tuesday. Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah hoisted the national flag while the national anthem was also read. Total 65 pigeons were also freed in the air on the occasion of the Independence Day.
The students of different schools wearing color outfits also presented various national songs, which were highly appreciated by the audience.
Representatives of Pakistan Army, Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Rangers Sindh also visited Mazar-e-Quaid, laid floral wreaths and offered fateha for the soul of Quaid-e-Azam and prayed for prosperity and development of the country.
Foreign ambassadors, senior government officials and people in large number also visited the Mazar-e-Quaid to show their affection for the founder of Pakistan.
Pak Rangers lay floral wreath on Quaid’s mausoleum
To pay homage to the Father of the Nation on the occasion of 66th Independence Day of Pakistan on Tuesday, a floral wreath was laid at the mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah by the Pakistan Rangers (Sindh).
Sindh Pakistan Rangers Deputy Director Brig Muhammad Rafique Khan laid the floral wreath and offered fateha. Brig Basit and other senior officials of Rangers were also present on the occasion, the spokesman of Rangers said.
