The creation of Pakistan was a great achievement with national spirit and the country could be ranked among one of the developed countries of the world if the countrymen continuously maintain the principles of leaders of the Pakistan movement.
People rendered great sacrifices in achieving a separate homeland in the sub-continent, but due to misunderstandings created by vested elements on the basis of linguistics, ethnic and sectarian basis only to achieve their personal goals, the countrymen have forgotten the great struggle and the cause, for which, Pakistan was achieved,
Senior Citizens Association Vice President Dadi Leela expressed these views in an interview with APP on Monday with reference to the Independence Day celebrations of Pakistan.
Born on December 20, 1916 in Hyderabad, Dadi Leela who was conferred Tamgha-e-Imtiaz last year, said there was the need of combined efforts following the motto of father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and other leaders of Pakistan Movement to make Pakistan one of the developed countries of the world.
She expressed her deep grief and shock over the increasing unrest on the behest of vested interests and said that those, who were involved in such shameful acts, had no religion nor were they Pakistanis.
No nation can develop without education, she said, adding that literacy also plays a key role in removing all misunderstandings among the people.
An independent and moderate Pakistan, having equal rights and justice to all was the dream of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Dadi Leela remarked.
Meanwhile, Minority Wing Pakistan Peoples Party Sindh President Advocate M Parkash said the Hindu community in Pakistan was patriotic and always struggled for the development and protection of their homeland and added that the Hindus are proud to be Pakistani and they are also making their contribution for the development and progress of the country.
Parkash said shunning differences and forging unity could be the great gift for Pakistan. We have received a lot from our homeland and now it is time to fulfill the dream of the freedom fighters to become a strong nation of the world, he concluded.
Bishop of Hyderabad Church of Pakistan Reve Kaleem John said the Christian community played a vital role in creation of Pakistan and strived hard along with their Muslim brothers to move the country towards rapid progress and prosperity.
Besides Muslims, he said the Christians also played their due role for the development of Pakistan soon after its creation. He, however, expressed his concern over the lack of spirit that was witnessed during the Pakistan Movement which according to him was due to the forgotten principles of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
He said due to misunderstandings among the people created by vested interests for achieving their personal goals, the pace of progress and prosperity was affected.
He underlined the need for forging unity irrespective of religion, creed and caste and joint struggle with sincerity and honesty for the progress and development of the country in order to fulfill the dream of the leaders of Pakistan Movement. He strongly criticized extremism and terrorism terming it against the code of conduct of Islam and said all the people including the Muslims and minorities should have equal rights in the country. He also called upon the politicians and bureaucrats to work with honesty, dedication and devotion and guide the nation to the path of progress and prosperity so that the country could be able to play leading role in the comity of nations.
