Tandoor boy wins Shahbaz’s heart

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Monday said that the poor student who works at a Tandoor to bake breads has become the pride of the nation by showing extraordinary dedication and commitment to education.
He expressed these views during his meeting with student Muhammad Mohsin Ali, who topped BA examinations held by Punjab University. He expressed pride in the young man, saying that he had proved that the youth of Pakistan is extremely capable and can achieve anything through dedication and commitment.
On this occasion, Shahbaz Sharif presented the student with a cheque of Rs 1 million and announced that a house would also be provided to the student at Aashiyana Housing Scheme.
Furthermore, he said that the government would be all academic expenses of the student so that he is able to acquire as much education as he desires.
He directed the Higher Education secretary to arrange lectures of Muhammad Muhsen Ali at LUMS, Aitchison College and other prestigious educational institutions, so that other students could be inspired by his story.
He said students like Mohsin Ali were our real heroes and in a country where billions of rupees were being wasted in bribery, kickbacks, embezzlement and projects like rental power, students like Muhammad Mohsin Ali were a beacon of light for the future. Shahbaz said that the antiquated system did not support poor students.
The CM said that by getting first position in BA/BSc examination, Ali has proved beyond doubt that the youth were fully capable and could change the direction of history. He said that despite financial constraints Ali had achieved a remarkable feat in the field of education, which showed that through determination and commitment, any destination could be achieved. He said Ali was a hero of the nation, who has displayed true picture of dignity of hard work by achieving great success in difficult circumstances by working day and night. The CM said that he saluted his hard work and greatness and he would visit his house at Hafizabad, after Eid, to personally congratulate his family. The CM said that acquiring education without resources in a country like Pakistan was a dream and by setting up Educational Endowment Fund, the Punjab government had opened the doors of higher education for the children of poor families. He said that it was an historic achievement that Punjab government was providing stipends to more than 35 thousand brilliant, but less-privileged students for which he felt pride in front of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Expressing his views on the occasion, Ali said that he did not know the politicians well but he considered the CM to be a great man.
He said that he kneaded Atta not only himself but his younger brothers were also working with him for the last three years. He said he lived in a one room house with 14 to 15 people, and he used to study there. He said that there was a time when he prepared for his examination by sitting on the road, in severe cold. Ali said he wished that his brothers could also get educated. He said that he used to get Rs300 to 400 daily wage, while the fee of his college was Rs 1700 per month. The CM gifted of new shirt and tie to Ali.
