Malik asks police to ensure foolproof security on Eid

Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Monday directed Islamabad Police to ensure fool-proof security for public and worship places and important buildings on Eidul Fitr. He issued these directions during a meeting held here to review law and order and security situation in the federal capital, especially on Eidul Fitr. Secretary Interior Khawaja Sadique Akbar, Additional Secretary Interior, Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Inspector General of Police Islamabad, Director General, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Director General, National Crisis Management Cell and Deputy Commissioner Islamabad attended the meeting. Rehman Malik said walk-through gates and scanners should be installed at worship places so as to ensure security for the citizens, adding that the suspects should also be thoroughly monitored. The same direction he also issued to the provincial home secretaries and IGPs. He said enhanced security should be provided for government buildings, railway stations, airports, Eidgahs and public places. Rehman Malik appreciated performance of Balochistan police for confiscating a huge cache of arms and ammunition which averted possibility of terrorist incidents on Eid. The minister said special security arrangements should also be made on Eid in Quetta, Noushki and Awaran. Security in red zones and Diplomatic Enclave should also be increased and checking system be further strengthened at entry and exit points in the federal capital. APP
