The Independence Day of Pakistan was celebrated here at Musa Nika Public School and College in Wana with zeal and fervor. National flag hoisting ceremony was held in which hundreds of students and locals participated.
The Assistant Political Agent of South Waziristan Agency (SWA) Shoaib Khan was the chief guest at the flag hoisting ceremony where students made speeches about independence day.
However, tribesmen said that they will only be happy on the independence day when the government of Pakistan will take strict stand on the stoppage of civilians killing through US drone strikes.
They lamented that government is silent on the killing of its innocent citizens in the tribal region, adding that US drones are hovering over our heads round the clock and are free to target anyone in the tribal region but our government is silent spectator.
They demanded of the government to take strict action on the drone policy in order to stop the reign of brutalities on the innocent and patriotic tribal people.
