As Amy Winehouse’s ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil remains on life support after a suspected overdose on a mix of alcohol and heroin, the 30-year-old’s mother has revealed that messages from Amy’s grave may have tipped him over the edge. Blake’s mother Georgette Civil believes that her son attempted suicide after reading heartfelt text messages from his ex-wife, who died of alcohol poisoning in July 2011. “He had messages on his phone from Amy which he only got recently. He didn’t have the phone in prison and he picked up messages from her when he was released,” Georgette told The Sun. “She said she wanted to be Jack’s [Blake’s son with current partner Sarah Aspin] godmother. The grief for Amy started again. I fear he may have been trying to take his own life.” Blake had only been out of prison for two weeks before “choking on his own tongue” last Friday. He had served a one-year sentence for burglary and possessing an imitation firearm.
