At least three personnel of security forces were killed and three other injured when militants attacked their convoy with an improvised explosive devise (IED) in North Waziristan on Sunday. Officials said the convoy was on its way from Mirali town of Miranshah, headquarter of North Waziristan, when it came under attack. A vehicle within the convoy was destroyed, while three on board were killed on the spot. Three injured soldiers were immediately shifted to Combined Military Hospital in Bannu. Soon after the attack, the security forces embarked on a retaliatory mission, but there was no detail of its outcomes. Militants attacked the security forces convoy in North Waziristan at a time when the US and Pakistan are engaged in consultation in connection with joint action against militants from Haqqani network and al Qaeda and other foreign and local militants having hideouts in North Waziristan. According to US official, the militants are involved in deadly attacks on NATO and Afghan troops across the border in Afghanistan. On such grounds, the US has been urging an early military action against the Haqqani Network in North Waziristan. Meanwhile, officials claimed killing 10 militants when fighters jets targeted their hideouts in Mamozai and its surrounding areas of Upper Orakzai on Sunday.
