Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) will install two filtration plants for the provision of clean drinking water to the residents.
According to details, one filtration plant would be installed in Dhoke Gujaran while the other will be installed in Allahabad.
RCB also lay down water pipelines in Shallay Valley and Tench Bhatta to provide clean water to these areas. The department will also provide water to Allama Iqbal colony as the locality faces acute water shortage. An amount of Rs 20 million will be spent on the scheme.
Meanwhile, people belonging to different walks of life expressed displeasure over non-availability of clean drinking water in many parts of the city.
Areas including Waris Khan, Khoti Bazaar, Jamia Masjid Road, Raja Bazaar, Amar Pura, Satellite Town, Commercial Market, College Road, Arya Mohallah, Dhoke Khaba, Umer Road, Nadeem Colony and Dokhe Elahi Bukhsh are receiving regular supply of polluted water.
This is a great step forward for the people in those communities, but the gesture needs to be extended to all communities. Clean, safe drinking water is essential for life, and without it could cause widespread disease that will affect those drinking clean water.
