The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has failed to provide free books to students up to class 10th of federal capital schools even though the new academic year has entered its fourth month.
Despite tall claims by FDE to ensure free education for all, various classes lack majority of textbooks except one or two books for each class.
According to sources, it is the responsibility of the FDE to deliver the textbooks to students before the beginning of their classes but most of the times FDE fails to provide all the books. Anxious parents said that classes started in April every year and the directorate promises to complete the process of book distribution till the end of March but fails to do so every time, adding that children could not prepare well for the first term exams. They demanded from authorities to make sure that books were delivered in time to save precious time of the students.
