Despite an increase in the population, the important and much needed project of constructing two new hospitals in the federal capital is in doldrums much to the agony of the residents. The federal rural areas have an approximate population of 1.2 million and Polyclinic and Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) are the only two state-run hospitals available to them. These hospitals are mostly overcrowded with patients and the environment there is usually chaotic. It is worth mentioning here that the Capital Development Authority (CDA) announced the construction of new hospitals in 2009 after seeing the constant rise of population. Despite a passage of three years, no progress has been made in this connection.
