PPP believes in supremacy of parliament, respects judiciary

Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khosa on Saturday said Pakistan People’s Party believed in the supremacy of the parliament and respects judiciary. He said the PPP had struggled for restoration of democracy and judiciary. Talking to a private television channel, he said that PPP respected all the national institutions, including judiciary. He said that PPP government always worked for smooth functioning of national institutions.
Replying to a question, he said that the National Reconciliation Ordinance provided environment for smooth functioning of democracy. He said that dictatorship had to go from the country due to the reconciliation. He alleged that political and non-political persons, including Nawaz Sharif, had benefited from the NRO.
Replying to another question, he said that in many countries President enjoyed immunity while serving the office.
Khosa said that the PPP believed in strong democratic system and institutions. He urged the Opposition to strengthen democracy. He said that PML-N was not following the Charter of Democracy (CoD).
The governor said that the cases made by the past regimes against President Asif Ali Zardari had proved false.
