KEMU approves budget for FY 2012-13

The Syndicate of King Edward Medical University (KEMU) on Saturday approved the budget estimates for the fiscal year 2012-13 amounting to Rs 1162.509 million The budget envisages Rs 704.187 million for employee related expenses, Rs 19 million for operating expenses, Rs 60.600 million for scholarships and stipends, Rs 30 million for research and surveys, Rs 36.510 million for physical assets, Rs 21.625 million for employee retirement benefits, Rs 42.170 million for repair and maintenance and Rs 74.737 million for development. The University also increased need based scholarships from 40 to 113, and increased the amount of each scholarship from Rs 2,000 to Rs 6,000 per month. The Syndicate also approved the teaching posts for the departments of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Cardiac Surgery, Child Psychiatry, Neurology and Pathology. In addition, there was an increment in posts for the Office Controller of Examination and the library The Syndicate has also approved test rates of Advanced Lab and Diagnostic Center at KEMU with 10 percent rebate for doctors, government/university employees, medical students and 15 percent for pensioners and senior citizens.

Furthermore, the Syndicate also approved the third version of the revised handbook of regulations related to admission, registration and examination for PhD and Mphil leading to PhD programs.
