Rising above the political divide, a vigorous movement for the accomplishment of the twin goals of the restoration of Bahawalpur province and the implementation of a ‘new system and new leadership’ plan will be launched after Eidul Fitr.
This was stated by Muhammad Ali Durrani, the leader of the Movement for the Restoration of Bahawalpur Province and former federal minister during a meeting with a delegation led by former MPA of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and chairman of the Chief Minister’s Task Force Samiullah Chaudhry. The delegation, which met with Muhammad Ali Durrani at his residence here, included Muhammad Tahir and Qayyum Azam.
Thanking Senate Chairman Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari on behalf of the people of Bahawalpur, Muhammad Ali Durrani, a former senator, said that the implementation of the unanimous resolution of the Punjab Assembly has started with the step of finalization of names for the Commission on the Restoration of Bahawalpur Province and submission of the same to the National Assembly speaker.
“The people nominated for the commission are highly respectable, competent and intelligent members of the Senate and besides being democratic, their thinking is also people friendly,” said Muhammad Ali Durrani. “The Punjab government has made the history by getting the resolution for the restoration of Bahawalpur province from the Punjab Assembly unanimously, which will never be forgotten. People of Bahawalpur are thankful to PML-N President Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif for this,” he added.
Muhammad Ali Durrani said that by unanimously adopting the resolution, the Pakistan People’s Party and other parties have proven that all political parties and elected representatives of the country recognise the people’s right of the restoration of Bahawalpur province and reject the injustice and cruelty that was committed against them by Yahya Khan. He said the unanimous adoption of the resolution for the restoration of the province is indeed a victory of both the people of Bahawalpur and democracy.
“After its restoration, the Bahawalpur province will turn to be a model Islamic welfare province in the light of the thoughts of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal. Under the ‘new system and new leadership’ plan, the power will be shared with the people in the real sense,” said the former federal minister for information and broadcasting.
On the occasion, Samiullah Chaudhry said that the Punjab government has added a golden chapter to the history of the country through the unanimous adoption of the resolution for the restoration of the Bahawalpur province and credit for this goes to Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. He said the role played by the PML-N president and the Punjab chief minister in this regard would always be remembered by the people of Bahawalpur province.
Samiullah Chaudhry said the people of Bahawalpur should rise above their political affiliation to vigorously run the last phase of their movement for achieving the twin goals of the restoration of their province and introduction of a new system and new leadership so that the province is restored before the next elections.
