Two new polio cases have been confirmed in Peshawar and Charsadda, bringing the number of total polio cases to eight in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa this year. According to EPI Deputy Director Dr Jan Baz Afridi, the first case was reported from the Azakhel area of Peshawar, where eight-month-old Bismillah was found infected with the crippling virus. The second case was found in the Muftiabad area of Charsadda, where a 19-month old baby Safina was confirmed positive with Polio P-One virus. During the current year, eight polio cases have been reported from KP, including two each from Peshawar and Lakki Marwat, one each from Mardan, Charsadda, Kohat and DI Khan.
